Feature: Context Selection
Overview
Context Selection in Clario defines what information your agents use when reasoning, analyzing data, or generating insights.
Each project, file, and insight contributes to a dynamic workspace context that determines how agents understand and respond to your queries.
You can manually choose which files or data to include or let Clario’s agents automatically determine the most relevant context based on your question.
This ensures that responses remain accurate, private, and directly related to the task at hand.
Types of Context
Context Type | Description |
Project Context | Default scope that includes all files, insights, and metadata within a project. |
File Context | Limit context to one or more specific uploaded files for precise reasoning. |
Insight Context | Reference previously generated results or analyses inside your project. |
Web Context | Extend reasoning to include live web data when web search is enabled. |
Each type of context is temporary and exists only for the duration of your current reasoning session.
Nothing from your context is stored or used for model retraining.
Manual Context Selection
You can explicitly select which files or insights to include in the active context.
Use the @ command while typing in chat to bring up a list of files and insights from your current project.
Example:
This tells Clario to use only that file for the query.
It helps you stay in control of what the agents reference and analyze.
Automatic Context Management
Clario’s General Agent can intelligently determine which files or insights to include based on query intent.
For example:
When you ask for a data-driven analysis, Clario prioritizes CSV or XLSX files.
When you request summaries, it uses PDFs or DOCX documents.
For visualizations, it automatically passes results to the Plotter Agent.
This balance of automation and control makes Clario’s agentic reasoning both adaptive and efficient.
Context Transparency
Clario provides clear visibility into which files and insights are currently active in your context.
Before or after each response, you can see what data was used so you always know where the results come from.
This adds an extra layer of accuracy and trust to your workflow.
Why Context Selection Matters
Keeps responses relevant and accurate
Reduces noise by limiting unnecessary data access
Improves reasoning efficiency and precision
Maintains privacy by only using the selected context
Gives users total control over what the agents can see
Privacy and Security
Context data is temporary and project-scoped.
Your files and content are never used for retraining or shared outside your workspace.
Agents only access the minimal information required to complete a task.
Summary
Context Selection ensures Clario’s agentic reasoning remains focused, private, and effective.
You decide what information to expose, while Clario intelligently adapts the context for the most relevant and insightful results.
